Race Equality Celebration Tomorrow

I just returned from doing a short spot on Palmetto Mornings (WRHI radio) about the Race Equality Week Celebration. Originally established by the National League of Cities, admission is free to this annual event.
Sponsored by the City of Rock Hill’s, “No Room for Racism Committee (NRFR),” this celebration is an educational, family oriented get together featuring foods, information and entertainment. Each year the NRFR Committee chooses a region of the world to feature and this year it will be Asia.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Rotunda of City Hall with foods from Thailand, Japan, Viet Nam, China and the U.S.A. The program follows in City Council Chambers at 6:00 p.m. with presentations featuring persons from Viet Nam, Japan and China. We’ll have entertainment by the Hidden Dragon Lion Dance Group (an Asian cultural group) from Charlotte.
The No Room for Racism Committee is a 9 member Board appointed by City Council. Our charge is to foster relationships among persons of diverse social, cultural and racial backgrounds and to celebrate our common interests in order to create a community where citizens work to overcome racism. We strive to foster relationships among persons of diverse social, cultural and racial backgrounds.
Note: the public is welcome to attend meetings of NRFR: first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Police Department Training Room at the Law Center, located at 120 East Black Street.

Just in from Japan

L to R Drs. Gillman, Kyoko, Brown

I just got back from teaching that seminar to doctors in Japan. This morning I’m digging through a week of E-mails that have piled up and of course giving adjustments. Travel is great, but never as exciting as getting back home. Here’s a photo that Kyoko, one of the doctors attending the seminar E-mailed to me this morning. In the picture she is receiving her certificate of completion from myself and Dr. Carl Gillman, who also taught the seminar along with me. In addition to being a fine chiropractor, Dr. Gillman is the chiropractor who took over my former practice in West Liberty, Iowa. He has been doing wonderful work there and I am proud of him. His section of the seminar involved teaching upper cervical toggle-recoil technique.

Screenings today at music event

This afternoon we will be at Winthrop Lake participating in Soul Jam. Tanai and I are hosting a free information table and bringing the range of motion device to screen people wishing to know how good their spinal mobility is. Besides interfering with the body’s nerve system, vertebral subluxations often disturb normal spinal motion. That’s why spinal motion screening helps us to let people know that they should see a chiropractor to be checked and adjusted if they need it. The event starts at 4:00 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m.

Adjusting to school

Last Saturday we held our “Back to school, it’s an adjustment” day. It was fun to see those kids get off to the right start and we’re glad to be a part of the process of getting them ready to gain the most from their school experience. A chiropractic adjustment does so much more than just make our headache go away or make our back feel better. It unleashes the potential within to express life and health in ways that science is only beginning to understand. So if your child hasn’t had their back to school visit to the chiropractor yet, just give us a call (803-366-8100) or a click: www.YouNeedChiro.com

Back to School – it’s an adjustment!

For our practice members: August 13th – Special free community service
Back to school time is upon us.  The children will soon return to their routine, teachers are getting ready for their return and we parents are working hard to prepare our children to get the most out of their education by getting the clothes, shoes, backpacks and school supplies, and the like.
We know that they also need to be ready physically, to learn and perform at their highest level.  That’s why a visit to the chiropractor is so important at this time of year.  A spinal adjustment is one of the few things that enhance kid’s health naturally and its fun for them to go see the chiropractor.
If your kids haven’t been checked by the chiropractor yet before returning to school, don’t worry.  It’s not too late for the kids to get checked and adjusted if they need it.
As a service to our practice members we are offering a free visit to the chiropractor on Saturday morning, August 13th for school-age children.  To take advantage of this special opportunity just call Dr. Brown’s office at 366-8100 and ask for an appointment for your child for their free back to school visit on Saturday morning. New face in the office

Tania Morrall

Hello, my name is Tania Morrall and I am a senior at Winthrop University. I am working towards finishing my BA in Business Administration, with a concentration in Health Care Management. Currently, I am enjoying my summer as Dr. Brown’s intern. It has been a great experience working with him. He is a wonderful leader and caring doctor of chiropractic. As a chiropractor, he focuses on educating his patients about how the spine and neck affects the entire body. Also, how chiropractic assistance can help improve a person’s performance. IT’s not about how you feel, but how you function. A person does not have to wait until injury or pain to see a chiropractor. So, come check us out at Dr. Myron Brown Chiropractor.

Chiropractic is kid stuff

While straightening up the office after today’s activity I was picking up some things in the area where kids like to play when it isn’t their turn to be checked. I happened to look up at the little magnetic board that the kids like to play with and found a smile growing on my face. Out of curiousity I looked back at who had been in earlier in the day to see if I could figure out which child had left that message. I just wasn’t sure, but then decided that it really didn’t so much matter which child wrote the message; but I’m glad to have the kind of an office where children feel welcome and willing to leave this kind of message for their parent. I’m truly grateful to be a chiropractor and have this kind of experience as a part of my work day.

Dancers performance improved with chiropractic

While looking for successful people who experienced changes in their lives while under chiropractic care, I found this photo. I was especially looking for changes in a person’s performance, not just pain relief and this is a good example of that. I remember watching “Dancing with the Stars” when Jerry Rice was competing and he is a good example of great performance, both in athleticism and artistic expression. This photo was found on a site called, “Wellsphere, health knowledge made personal.” Football superstar, Jerry Rice is shown in the photo competing on the well-known network TV dance show. Rice enthusiastically encourages people to use chiropractic care to help them perform at their best.
