It seems that the “Health Care Crisis” affects much more than just who has money or insurance, in fact it goes much farther than money issues. The irony is that in the United States we spend far more than other countries on health care and seem to get less and less in the way of results.
A report on NPR this morning sounds the alarm about a dramatic increase in allergies in children. The report reveals that many of the things that we have been told to do to keep kids healthy may actually be a part of the problem. The report stated that “Allergies are on the rise these days, especially in children. Nearly half of all kids are now allergic to something, be it food, animals, or plants. Federal health officials say that rate is two to five times higher than it was 30 years ago.” The report also cited a fascinating research study in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, which found that Amish children living on farms, working around dusty, dirty conditions and drinking raw milk had very low rates of allergies.
A well-referenced article on the benefits of raw milk notes that a certain chemical, conjugated linoleic acid, which is abundantly available in raw milk, “…strengthens the immune system and lowers food allergy reactions.” Click this link to have a look: http://www.raw-milk-facts.com/raw_milk_health_benefits.html.
Perhaps we need to reconsider our sterile, medicated way of life and introduce our kids to healthier, safer, more natural methods.
